Greetings 2015

By | Studio News | No Comments

Happy New Year!

We are excited to kick off 2015 after experiencing the successes of 2014. The past year has brought significant positive changes, and recognition for our studio.

We were lucky to have been awarded three American Graphic Design Awards for our work on a variety of amazing projects with A24 Films, IFC Films, and Northeastern University. It felt great to have our small—but growing—studio recognized on a national level. It goes to show that hard work and great clients can create noteworthy design.

Pixel Parlor is proud to be a B Corp! This designation means that we’ve set goals to go the extra mile to work with environmentally and socially responsible organizations and companies. It also means that we give back to our community and provide an ethical and positive work environment for our employees.

Speaking of employees, we hired two amazing designers in 2014, Bart Lyons and Sam Rahman. They each bring unique skill sets to the table, allowing us to offer new services to our clients, and accomplish demanding design challenges.

We are really lucky to have the clients, partners, vendors, and team that make Pixel Parlor what it is. We hope to continue these wonderful collaborations into 2015 and beyond.

With our warmest regards,
Jenn, Andrew and the Pixel Parlor team

As part of the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST), we’ll be opening our doors the weekend of October 25th and 26th, 2014 for anyone who’d like to stop in and say “hello.”

In case you’re falling asleep just thinking about the prospect of in-depth typography conversations, we’ll have a bloody mary bar, snacks, and refreshments on Sunday, October 26th, from noon – 6pm, and we’d love for you to join us.

As always, feel free to give us a shout with any questions, and we hope to see you soon!

Space is the Place

We are excited to announce our new location at 2424 Studios in Fishtown. While we are sad to leave our old location, we now have more space to grow. We are still ironing out the rough edges (unpacking, new storage solutions, etc), and are actively looking for new lunch options—all suggestions are welcome. We promise to keep you posted when we break out the champagne!

Northeastern University CAMD Magazine

By | Studio News | No Comments

It’s here! The first annual magazine for Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media and Design—lovingly nicknamed CAMD (pronounced cam-dee). A labor of love, we worked with the CAMD team to develop, design and produce this inaugural issue.

The magazine features noteworthy students taking the media world by storm in music, photography, fashion design and architecture. It pays tribute to it’s noteworthy alumni including filmmaker and producer Tracy Heather Strain, Grammy nominee Gil Rose, and designer Richard Saul Wurman. The school’s international impact on media is creating a strong impact and forging a new, unique voice for the future of creative communication.

Great Scot!

We’ve returned from the chilly land of kilts, bagpipes, thistle, ancient ruins, cemeteries, and sheep. Edinburgh was vibrant and filled with pubs. The country side was lush and green, a welcome antidote to the potholed Philadelphia streets. We are back in the studio and ready to squeeze the last few bits out of summer.

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries

By | Studio News | No Comments

Recently we were approached by a community center/non-profit in North Philly to produce a video to bring awareness to their organization, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries. It gave us an opportunity to collaborate with our friend and photographer Jaime Alvarez, and to get to know the amazing people at Mercy. The wide range of free programs include children’s day care, adult day care, GED courses, senior programming, special needs assistance, and community group meetings, etc. It was wonderful to see such great care given to a community of Philadelphia that needs it the most.

Happy anniversary to me!

Thanks to all of our amazing clients, family and friends, I am thrilled to celebrate my first anniversary as a partner at Pixel Parlor.

Together over the past year, we’ve been able to forge strong relationships, amazing collaborations and to squeeze in a lot of fun. We are lucky to work with a few great innovators, some world changers, culture makers, and an adorable monster.

We couldn’t be happier with how things are shaping up. Feel free to give us a call or stop by for a visit any time you are in friendly, Philadelphia.

Thanks for stopping by!

Our new studio is located on the edge of Northern Liberties next to the #15 trolly line on Girard Avenue. We are excited to be part of such a dynamic and interesting neighborhood that changes every day.

We are lucky to share our sunny new space with the sustainable architecture studio Bright Common. We will keep you posted if we get around to having an opening party this summer.
